• The Total Solar Eclipse celebration on Easter Island is getting closer and facts speak loader than rumours. LAN Airlines have released the first economic flights securing the arrival for the majority of the festival participants. And "Centro Honu", the eco-camping project and venue for the festival, has attained the highest authority support on the island. The project also has the backing of many international music and artistic organisations.
• Despite the earthquake in Chile, the capital city Santiago received minimal damage and the international airport is returning to normal day by day. Easter Island was completely untouched.The Honu Eclipse Experience !

Honu Eclipse is an international eco-festival for peace celebrating the Total Solar Eclipse that will pass through Easter Island, 11 July 2010 at 2:11 PM local time. A once in a lifetime experience of 4 minutes and 48 seconds of complete totality on the worlds most remote and mysterious island. It will be one of the longest solar eclipses to bless a gathering like this, and the first on the island for over 1,400 years. Imagine yourself living this incredible celestial alignment whilst surrounded by ancient volcanoes and megalithic stone statues. A unique cosmic experience!.

The home of the festival will be "Centro Honu”, set on private land on the slopes of the highest volcano, facing west towards the setting sun, ensuring incredible daily sunsets. “Centro Honu” neighbors’ with Ahu Akivi, the 7 statues (moai), the first temple built on the island to honor the first 7 explorers who discovered it 1,400 years ago, around the time of the last Total Solar Eclipse. Ahu Akivi is the only platform which faces out towards the ocean. The statues align to the Summer Solstice sunset, the Constellation of Orion and the Pleiades. It is an honor to be received in such a place!

15 days of camping, 7 days of festival with inter-cultural activities featuring legendary artists such as Raja Ram and his Shpongle DJ set, jamming with his magic flute, and others such as Eat Static and Etnica, amongst more to be confirmed. The festival will integrate Rapa Nui artists such as Kari Kari, the island’s most legendary music and dance group. The festival will integrate Rapa Nui musicians and artists. There will also be a fine selection of artists from the official supporting labels: TIP World, Blue Room Released, Nano, Alchemy, Neurobiotic, Auraquake, Etnicanet, Liquid, amongst others.

Never before has an event captured the imagination and hearts of the scene like this. Human words cannot describe the experience that awaits the Honu Eclipse tribe because a gathering of this nature has never happened before, and will never happen again.

LAN, the only airline with scheduled flights to Easter Island has just released economy flights Santiago de Chile - Easter Island with a minimum stay of 18 days (departure between 23 June and 2 July, return between 20 July and onwards). The average price of these flights is between USD $ 575 and USD $ 824 and are sure to fill up quick, or rise in price. Without a doubt the cheapest and best options currently available to secure the arrival for the majority of the Honu Eclipse participants.

Honu Eclipse 2010 FAQ

1. Travel

1.1. How do I get to Easter Island ?
The only way to arrive to the island is by air. LAN airlines is the only scheduled airline that services the island. There are upto 12 flights a week that arrive, from Santiago, Chile (SCL) or Papette, Tahiti (PPT). Both of these destinations have frequent international connections to all continents.

1.2. How do I get a flight for the eclipse?
Due to restrictions on the island for the eclipse period. Some flights are not available for public sale. Please see the table below for information on how, and where to get your flight.

1.3. What about my international connection?
If you are a ticket holder you will be contacted by our official agency to help to arrange your flights. They will offer you the best possible deal on your complete flight to the festival. We have arranged some better value deals with LAN from destinations such as Los Angeles, New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney, and Sao Paulo. Ofcourse you are free to arrange your own international connection closer to the time of the festival.

1.4 I already have a ticket/reservation, how do I get my flights ?
Now that all the flights have been released, in the next 7-14 days our agency and customer service department will contact each and everyone of you via email or telephone to help you get suitable flights. If you havent received contact by the end of April, please contact travel@honueclipse.org

2. Festival Tickets

2.1 How do I get a ticket ?

2.2 What about flight/tickets packages ?
We are currently finalising the details for the all in one packages. They will be available via the main site, facebook page and our official partners in key places worldwide. They will be cheapest possible way to get to the festival.

2. Accomodation

2.1. What accommodation options are available at the festival site?
There's just one option for everyone, and thats to camp!. So along with your travel documents and festival tickets, you need to bring your tent and all the things that you could need in a subtropical island weather. (see sections 4 and 5)

2.2. When will the camp open?
The camping site of the festival will be open July 1st - July 15th 2010; and will be completely free to all the people who have a festival ticket.

2.3. Is there any other option to stay at the island on the festival dates?
Yes, in Hanga Roa, the only town of the island, about 7 kms. away from the festival site, it is possible to find hostels, hotels, and campings. However during the festivals date 7-13 we expect alot of these accomodations to be reserved for the eclipse. You should find something outside of these dates however. Our agency will be there to help you find suitable accomodation if you require.

3. The Festival

3.1. What are the festival dates?
Wednesday July 7th - Tuesday July 13th, 2010.

3.2. And the Eclipse?
The Eclipse occur during the early afternoon on July 11th, 2010.

3.3. What about the line up?
The lineup has been published on the mainsite and features some of the finest artists in the scene.

3.5. How many stages will there be?
The festival will have 2 official stages. The Main stage, and Chillout. There will also be a Rapa Nui village with local artists and bands.

3.6. Will there be food, water, toilets, showers, etc. at the festival site?
You will find everything you need on the festival site. Bars and restaurantes will operate 24 hours. There will be a selection of international and Rapa Nui cuisine. The festival will also have a minimarket for everyday items.

3.7 What is the official currency of the festival ?
The official currency inside the festival will be Chilean Pesos (CHP) and in some cases US Dollars (USD). Other currencies can be exchanged in Hanga Roa. There are also ATMs and banks in the main town.

3.8 How will I arrive to the festival site ?
The festival is approximately 7km from Hanga Roa, 6km from the international airport. All ticket holders who identify themselves at the airport will be offered transport to the venue for a small cost. The official festival transport is via horse drawn carts. However you can easily find taxis to and from the festival.

3.9 What about tours the rest of the island ?
Our agency is formulating a series of tours to some of the more famous sites on the island. There will also be daily trips to the beaches, caves, and volcanoes. If you like hiking you can arrive to most places in a few hours.

4. What should/shouldn't I bring ?

4.1 We suggest you to bring the following items
Tent > Sleeping bag > Hammock > Waterproof jacket > Long sleeve top > Swimwear > Towels > Sunglasses> Suncream > Hiking Boots > Sandals > Hat > Ecological Soap/Shampoo

4.2 What am I not allowed to bring ?
You are not permitted to bring any of the following items onto the festival site.
Alcohol > Illegal Substances > Weapons > Video Equipment > Plastic Shopping Bags > Glass Bottles > Audio Equipment > Chemical Soap/Shampoo

5. Climate at the festival

Easter Island is a subtropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. July is subtropical winter with daily temperatures averaging at 21c with peaks upto 25c. Nightimes are a little fresher dropping to a minimum of 16c. Rain is less common in winter than summer. But still, periodic and sparse showers can pass isolated spots on the island. Sea Temperatures average 18c this time of year.

You are incredibly fortunate to be one of the few to participate in this. Now, into the final steps, please carefully follow our instructions, and be prepared for the flights. Get them whilst they are cheap. And start packing your backpacks for what will be one of the most amazing experiences to live on earth.

Andei procurando por fotos, e achei várias, pelos comentários o Festival teve uma média de 1000 pessoas. Rolou vários problemas com a Decor e Estrutura devido as fortes chuvas e ventos. Mas quem foi gostou muito.
